كتاب علم الإجتماع العائلي من تأليف زينب إبراهيم العزبي حاولت فيه الربط بين التنشئة الاجتماعية وحاجات الطفل باعتبار الصلة العضوية التي تربط بين عملية التنشئة الاجتماعية وعلم الاجتماع والتي يعتبر فيها الطفل كمادة خام لهذه العملية.
فقد كانت الأسرة المصرية تحرص كل الحرص على تربية وتنشئة أطفالها تنشئة سليمة وصحية لضمان النجاح في المدرسة وفي مراحل التعليم كلها، وفي جوانب الحياة الأخرى أيضا، لكن الإشكالية هي أن الأسرة المصرية على اختلاف أوضاعها لم تتعرف على الدور التربوي الفعال الذي يجب أن تقوم به لإعداد الطفل اعدادا تربويا وتدفعه إلى النجاح المدرسي وفي الحياة بشكل عام.
فمازالت الكثير من الأسر تتسابق إلى دفع اطفالهم الصغار بطرق غير مدروسة وغير مقبولة من الناحية التربوية، إلى التعلم والكتابة والقراءة والحساب وشتى العلوم، وفي تصورهم أن هذا هو المطلوب منهم، لكن هذا التصور غير صحيح دون شك، إذ أن المتعارف عليه علميا أن الطفل يجب أن لا نقوم بتعليمه وفق التعليم النظامي المنهجي قبل بلوغه سن المدرسة الإبتدائية أي من سن السادسة فما فوق.
