كانت ليلة باردة من ليالي أوروبا الشمالية، قبل مائة عام من الآن، داخل الضواحي الشعبية لمدينة دبلن بـ أيرلندا، عندما كتب العم جورج برنارد شو مقولته الشهيرة : الحقيقة هي أن الكل سيؤذيك بطريقة ما، عليك فقط أن تجد من يستحق أن تعاني من أجله.
قرأت مقولته وكنت فتاةً صغيرةً، لكنها ثَبـُتت في عقلي كنقش فرعوني فريد من الصعب أن يُـمحى، تذكرتها كثيرًا، أنكرتها أحيانًا وآمنتُ بها أخرى، لكني لسنواتٍ طوالٍ بحثتُ عن إجاباتٍ مقنعةٍ إن كان برنارد شو مـُحِقًّا فيما قاله والجميع سوف يؤذيني أو أنهُ كان على خطأ!! وإن كان الجميع سوف يصيبُني بأذى فمن سيكون سندًا ومتكئًـا في أيام الشدائد والصعاب!!.
لم أكُن أدرك وقتها أن الإجابة عن تساؤلاتي قد تركها باولو كويلو في نفس العام الذي ولدتُ فيهِ، تركها مع الراعي سانتياغو عند شجرة الجميز داخل روَاق الكنيسة القديمة في غرناطة، المؤسف في الأمر أن الرسالة قد وصلتني متأخرةً ثلاثين عامًا، لكن يبقى دائِمًا الوعي المُتأخّر خيرٌ من الحماقة المستدامة.
