شهلا العجيلي كاتبة أردنية سورية ولدت عام 1976. حاصلة على دكتوراه في الأدب العربي الحديث والدراسات الثقافية من جامعة حلب، وعملت بتدريس الأدب العربي الحديث في جامعة حلب والجامعة الأميركية في مادبا في الأردن.
الجوائز
أصدرت مجموعة قصصية بعنوان "المشربيّة" (2005) ودراسات نقدية عديدة، من بينها: "الرواية السوريّة/ التجربة والمقولات النظريّة"٬ (2009) "الخصوصيّة الثقافيّة في الرواية العربيّة" (2011) و"مرآة الغريبة - مقالات في نقد الثقافة" (2006) إضافة إلى رواية "عين الهرّ" (2009) ورواية "سجاد عجميّ" (2013). وقد سبق لها أن شاركت في ورشة الكتابة الإبداعية "الندوة" التي تديرها الجائزة لتشجيع شباب الكتّاب الواعدين وكتبت قسما من روايتها "سماء قريبة من بيتنا" خلال تواجدها في ندوة عام 2014.

"كلما سافر يأتي لي بالسردين المخلل، فنلف السمكة الصغيرة بخبزة، ونضع معها كبيس الفلفل، ونجلس على رصيف من الأرصفة لنستمتع بمذاقها الحارق الذي يخرج من الأنف. ضحكت كارمن وقالت: قد تنسى المرأة رجلاً أطعمها العسل، لكنها ستتذكر دائماً ذلك الذي علّمها أكل السردين المخلل! قامت لتنام، وعدنا أنا وعبّود بحكاياتنا إلى الرقّة، ورحت بين ضحك وبكاء، فكان يأخذني بين ذراعيه ويهدهدني. يمسح دمعاتي ويشبك كفيّ بكفّيه الصافيتين، ويقبّل مراراً أصابعي واحداً واحداً، ويمسّد شعري بحنوّ كأنني رضيعة. منحني العزاء بأمّي، وأنساني ما ارتكبناه بحق جدتي. لقد كان عبود الكائن البشري الوحيد الذي أسكن روحي الجنة".
