هي رواية إدانة لمجتمعات ذكورية أهملت الجسد الآخر، وحكمت عليه بالسجن المؤبد بلا إمكانية لإطلاق سراح مشروط، إلا عند الدفن، ولم تدر أنها دفنته فعليًّا منذ ولادته، فلم يملك الجسد المتمرّد غير الشيزوفرينيا طريقاً للخلاص ولو بموت يختاره بنفسه، ليغدو معادلًا لحياة لم يعشها.
على الأرجح أن رواية وسام المدني "شيزوفرينيا جسد"، هي الرواية الأولى من نوعها التي تطرح الجسد معادلًا موضوعيًّا للروح، ويتضح ذلك منذ مطلع الرواية: "جسدي ملقى على سرير متواضع غارقاً في دمه. تحيط به وجوه غريبة ترتدي الأبيض، محاولة إعادة الحياة له، لكنه ببطء يتخلى عن آخر ما يربطه بعالمهم".
هي الصدمة الأولى للقارئ حين يكتشف أن ما يرحل هو الجسد لا الروح، ثم تتلوه صدمات الانفصام والتعدد في الجسد الواحد، في إطار ما ابتكره من دفاعات ذاتية، لا عن وجوده فقط، بل عن اختيار ما يلائمه من رغبات.
الجسد هنا هو البطل/ الضحية، هو ما يفنى ويبقى، وهو ما يحدد شكل الفناء والبقاء، وهو ما يستحق الاحتفاء في مجتمعات الظل والخفاء، يعلن تمرده وعصيانه على القوالب الجامدة التي حشرته فيها كومة الأعراف والتقاليد، ويغترب حتى عن روحه إذا حاولت لجمه، يؤدي عدة أدوار في اللحظة ذاتها لأنه يملك ذاته، ويملك "أنوثته وذكورته" في آن معًا.
