كتاب الورقات هو متن صغير كتبه إمام الحرمين عبدالملك بن عبد الله الجويني المتوفي سنة 478، وإمام الحرمين من كبار أئمة أصول الفقه ومن كبار المؤلفين فيها وله قدم راسخة في هذا الميدان، وقد رأى أن يكتب هذا المتن الصغير محاولًا تجريده من كثير من المسائل التي يرى أنها ليست ضرورية للمبتدئ وإنما هي الأمور التي يشرع فيها طالب العلم فيما بعد، فالمختصر هذا يكون لصغار طلاب العلم الذين غالبا ما يحفظون هذه المختصرات عن ظهر قلب ثم يتدرجون فيما بعد إلى ما هو أوسع والكتاب له قبول كبير عند طلبة العلم وتوالت عليه الشروح، وهذا الشرح للأستاذ الدكتور عياض السلمي هو من أبرز هذه الشروحات.
