"لم يكن في الطريق سوانا، كنت أخفق مثل الستارة في الريح، وهو يغيب ويشرق خلف دموعي، ومشينا وحيدين، أبكي، ويبكي، وحيدين تحت سماء نشبكها بالضلوع، حدت الريح أعناقها لترانا. والفضاء دنا وتدلى، لم يكن في الطريق الذي رسمته خطانا سوانا سوى رجل غابر غابر يتصدع تحت المطر. ويرى طين كفيه وهو يذوب ويوحل منذ مئات السنين. وبراق من الدمع، يربطه رجل غابر بين أضلاعه ويئن عليه، صحت: عطش ترابك، وأذبني، ريثما يا حفيد الغرارة نجبل أرضاً بأرواحنا وبيوتاً معلقة وحدائق غلباً، ريثما نستحي أن يبيت الندى في العراء، وأن تسهر الشمس خارجنا طيلة الليل طيلة هذا الجسد".
