ولد "موريس دو كوبرا" عام (1888) في باريس، وقد قام بجولات كثيرة حول العالم، وكتب العديد من الروايات التي لاقت نجاحاً كبيراً وتحولت إلى أفلام، وقد قام بكتابة السيناريو لـ"سيدة الأحلام" "النار واللعب".....
وحصل (موريس دو كوبرا) على درجة الدكتوراه من جامعة (أوندرا) الهندية، وكان من أعضاء الشرف للأكاديمية الدولية، وحصل أيضاً على جائزة من "مقر البوليس القضائي" في "فرنسا" (1951)، وحصل على الميدالية الذهبية لمدينة "باريس" (1954).
إن سفن الزهور من أعجب الطرائف في الصين. فعلى نهر "اللؤلؤ" في "كانتون"، ترسو سفن عائمة حافلة بأبدع نماذج الجمال الصيني.. وفي هذه العائمات، يحظى الزائر بجو شاعري، وبألوان من اللهو والملذات، لا قبل له بها في أي مكان آخر من العالم..
ولكن الأطماع السياسة والحرب الباردة التي تحتاج العالم في هذه الأيام، انعكست على جو هذه العائمات الحالمة، فأصبحت أوكار للجاسوسية وللمؤامرات التي تكتنف الصراع الدائر بين "فرموزا" و"الصين الشعبية".
ومن هذا الجو الفريد، الحافل بالملذات وبالغموض وبأعنف المغامرات، استمد الروائي الفرنسي ذو الصيت العالمي "موريس ديكوبرا" –الذي قضى عشرين عاما في ارتياد القارة الآسيوية، من قناة السويس حتى شمال اليابان– أحداث هذه القصة المشوقة.. واستطاع بأسلوبه البارع أن يتيح للقارئ ساعات يعيشها بين أعنف مغامرات الحب الشاعرية، وأعنف نخاطر الجاسوسية والمؤامرات!
