قبل مئة عام هجري، وتحديداً في العام 1334هـ الموافق 1915م، ترجل عدد كبير من الجنود "الأتراك" في "المدينة المنورة"، بعد رحلة طويلة مضنية قادمين من "اسطنبول"، كانوا مدججين بالسلاح والفظاظة والأوامر الصارمة.
كان اليوم شتاءً قاسياً على المدينة وأهلها الآمنين... الجنود بطرابيشهم الحمراء والبنادق المدلاة من أيديهم، تقدموا نحو أزقة المدينة و"احواشها" الشهيرة، كانت الأوامر الصادرة لهم من "فخري باشا" قائدهم العسكري، هي القيام بعملية "تهجير قسرية" وقاسية ومروعة لكل رجل يلاقونه أو امرأة أو طفل.
كان القرار المتخذ من "الأستانة" في "اسطنبول"؛ هو محاولة لإستباق الأحداث المتسارعة في "إقليم الحجاز"، وربما بقية الأقاليم العربية التي رزحت تحت الإحتلال التركي لقرون.
وكلمة "سفر برلك"، التي تعني بالتركية "الترحيل الجماعي"، غرست في وجدان "المدينيين" فلم تكن إلا كلمة مرادفة للألم والإحتلال الإجرامي في حق سكان المدينة المنورة، وهي ما زالت تختبئ في الأنفس والذكريات القاسية التي عانتها بيوت وطرقات المدينة حتى الآن.
