يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن سيرة حياة واحد من أبطال العرب الشرفاء من الذين خاضوا حرباً ضد الفاشية الإيطالية في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر في ليبيا، وهو "محمد سعدون الشتيوي" (1893 للميلاد) في مدينة مصراته، بطرابلس الغرب.
وفي هذا الكتاب يسجل الكاتب علي مصطفى المصراتي، تاريخ كفاح سعدون وتاريخه النضالي وأهم الأماكن التي خاض فيها معاركه الحربية في شطوط مصراته، مثل قصر أحمد وعين كعام، والسلحبية النقّازة، والمشرك والسدادة ... وأخيراً المكان الذي سقط فيه شهيداً في آخر معركة له في منطقة الشرك.
من عناوين الكتاب نذكر: "حينما تضرب الفاشية وطناً" ، "الميلاد فوق ألسنة النيران" ، "الوطن هو المدرسة، والجماهير هي العلم" ، "ودخل مدينته والسلاسل في قدميه ويديه" ، "في الطريق إلى معارك "قصر خيار" ... وأخيراً "الإستشهاد".
