اسمه الكامل جورج آمادو دي فاريا (Jorge Amado de Faria) (ولد في باهيا 10 أغسطس 1912, توفي 6 أغسطس 2001) روائي، صحفي وسياسي برازيلي، واحد من أهم كتّاب البرازيل ومن أوسعهم شهرة. منذ أيام المدرسة بدأ الكتابة، وألف مع عدد من أصدقائه في مسقط رأسه «جماعة الحداثة». وفي عام 1935 أنهى دراسة الحقوق في ريو دي جانيرو ولكنه لم يتسلم شهادته إذ كان قد دخل حينذاك عالم الأدب وبدأ يشق طريق النجاح بمجموعة من المؤلفات، منها «بلاد الكرنفال» (1931) O pais do carnaval، و«كاكاو» (1933) Cacao، و«عَرَق» (1934) Suor و«جوبيابا» (1935) Jubiaba، ثم أتبعها بـ «بحر ميت» (1936) Mar Morto و«قباطنة الرمال» (1937)Capitaes Areia. وقد صار جورجي آمادو بعد انتشار أعماله هذه الكاتب المفضل لدى شعبه. والسر في هذا النجاح هو تمسكه ببعض الأشكال الاتباعية ممزوجة بالصعلكة وطعم التقاليد العريقة في مسقط رأسه، ولاية باهيا، التي كانت بحواضرها وريفها مسرح كل رواياته، وأناسها أبطاله الدائمين.

●عدد الصفحات:417-هو ذا زوربا آخر، وهذه المرة من تقديم جورج أمادو.اسم زوربا هنا بدرو أرشانجو.وأظن أننا سنتذكر هذا الاسم طويلاً، بعد قراءة «خيمة المعجزات»، بقدر ما تذكرنا زوربا اليوناني الذي قدمه لنا كازانتزاكي.بدرو أرشانجو مثل زوربا اليوناني محب للحياة وللنساء والخمرة والمغامرة.. والناس كلهم. الناس كلهم أهله وهو شاب ورجل، والناس كلهم أبناؤه وهو شيخ وعجوز. ويزيد المسألة ظرفاً وعمقاً أن يكون لهذا الكلام مضمون واقعي فعلي بمقدار ماله من دلالة رمزية وإيحائية: (قسم كبير من الأبطال أبناؤه فعلاً). ما يزيد في بدرو أرشانجو عن زوربا اليوناني أن أرشانجو معني بقضية محددة وليس معنياً في أن يعيش كما توجهه غرائزه ويغامر بحياته.. ولكن دون أن يحوله هذا إلى شخصية متجهمة أو دعائية. ذلك أن ارتباطه بهذه القضية جزء من ارتباطه بالحياة وبالتالي فالقضية ذاتها، تزيده حيوية وتزيدنا حباً له وارتباطاً به.فهذه الرواية ـ إضافة إلى كونها رواية ممتعة ـ أعتبرها واحدة من أكثر الروايات التي قرأتها إمتاعاً. وهي، في الوقت ذاته، مرافعة فذة للدفاع عن الشعب البرازيلي ـ شعب باهيا تحديداً ـ وعن ثقافته وتقاليده وتراثه أمام هجمة «التأورب» والانسلاخ الثقافي والصَّغار أمام الغرب.
