رواية زمن نجوى وهدان تأليف مجدي جعفر، تواصل الرواية مسيرتها نحو التألق والتميز. فمنذ زمن ليس بالبعيد قالوا إن العصر والأوان هو عصر الرواية وزمن الرواية. وذلك لكثرة انتشارها وسهولة قراءتها .. واشتمالها على عناصر التصوير والتشويق والإثارة .. ولأنها على المستوى الفنى استوعبت الشعر – فن العربية الأول واستفادت منه كثيرا فى جانب الشخصية والموضوع ، وفهم السمات والمواقف البنائية واللغوية والواقعية .
والآن تعدت الرواية الجديدة إلى أبعد من ذلك. فاستوعبت واستلهمت العناصر التركيبية لفن المسرحية. وقد يكون ذلك لقرب الشبه بينهما ابتداء، وأيا كان الأمر فى هذه المسألة فإن الرواية والمسرحية من فنون القول المتميز، لكل منهما خصائصه التي تميزه عن الآخر، وسماته الخاصة. ولم تكن هذه الدراسة لإثبات ذلك أو نفيه أو الفصل بينهما، وإنما الهدف الرئيسي يكمن في رصد الظواهر الموضوعية والفنية المتداخلة والمتشابكة في الفن عموما والفن الروائي خصوصاً. ومهما يكن من قول فيه أخذ ورد أو اتفاق واختلاف. فإن الجانب المسيطر على هذه الدراسة. هو الجانب التحليلي النقدي. المتتبع لأهمية الرواية واستلهماها الواقع، والتعبير عنه – ومحاولة إصلاحه – استنادا على الصلة الوثيقة بين الفن والواقع – وبين الكاتب الأديب وبيئته ومجتمعه. لذا كان إطلاق الرواية الجديدة ليس من باب التقليد الكلاسيكي النمطي وإنما كان ذلك من دوافع الشكل الفني، ومدى المواءمة بين الفن الحواري والقصصي وارتباط كل منهما بالواقع الحياتي المعاصر، وقربهما فنيا وموضوعيا على مستوى الخلق والابتكار، والتقديم والمعالجة لإشكاليات الواقع ومن ثم التسجيل والوقوف عند أهم ملابساته
