رواية عائدون ، تعد استكمالا لروايتي " حقل الفؤاد " و " الشرق أشجان " ، احداثها جرت في اليمن خلال الفترة ما بعد حرب ١٩٩٤م وحتى ما بعد حرب ٢٠١٥م .. ما يميزها أنها خاتمة لقصة ثلاثة أو أربعة أجيال ، شهدت ما شهدت وعانت ما عانت من تقلبات الفكر والسياسة والفقه . كما وميزتها أن شخصياتها ال ٢٣ جميعها عادت إلى وطنها ، ولكل منها قصة عودة ، وهذه الشخصيات كانت ضمن شخصيات الروايتين السابقتين ، فيما الأخرى مثلت الأجيال الجديدة ، بما تحمله من أفكار وأحلام وتطلعات مغايرة عن الآباء والأجداد .
