من الكتاب: الشمس متمركزة فوقنا ؛ عطشى ومتعبون وخائفون نحن .. الفوضى ملأت المكان انتظرنا قليلا وجاءت البارجة لتنقذنا كما كنا نعتقد قلنا لهم بأننا نغرق انقذونا، رفضوا أن نصعد إليهم كل ما فعلوه أنهم ربطوا سفينتنا بهم بحبل وقالوا أنهم سيتواصلون مع السفن الايطالية لتأتي وتأخذنا بقينا في قارب الخوف نتأرجح يمنةً وشمالاً أحضروا لنا خبزاً وماء وارسلوهم الينا لحين انقاذنا أكلنا انا وابنتي زوجي كان يعطينا ما يأخذه لنأكله ايضاً اومئ برأسي ايجاباً و ادعوه للنزول لجانبنا لكن صراخ الاطفال والخوف يمنعانه من ذلك طلبوا من الجميع الهدوء والثبوت في مكانهم أصبحت الثامنة مساءاً وما زلنا بانتظار من سينقذنا وأخيراً حضرت السفن الايطالية الجميع يشكر الله ؛ الاطفال يبكون ؛ السفن لم تقترب منا اكتفت فقط بتصويرنا من بعيد مضت ساعة اشتد الهواء ، والموج يرتفع أكثر؛ اقترب الموت منا اكثر التوتر و الموت يداهمان الجميع ؛ نرى سفن الانقاذ لكنها لم تنقذنا ..
