وبرغم أنني لا أزعم القدرة على تفهم -غير سطحي- للواقع السوري عبر الفترة التي تتناولها هذه المذكرات -وهناك فارق بين الكلمتين- إلا أنني إذ مضيت أستمتع بكتابة رصينة ومدفقة ومحاذرة مضت أمامي كقطع من نسيج متصل جيد الصنع. جميل النسج، فقد خفق قلبي كطفل شقي وهو يتابع خيطاً ذهبياً يمتزج مع ألوان الطيف المنسوجة معاً. ويتألق متمايزاً بنضال وتضحيات وأناقة لم تجعل منه تشازا أو منفصلاً عن مجمل النسيج. إنه الخيط الذهبي الذي يندمج في النسيج متمايزاً أو حتى متناقضاً لكنه يعطي النسيج بهاء ونقاء، ويمنحه نوعاً من هذا الجمال الأبدي التكوين والإبداع، ولقد يتبدى أنه خيط.. مجرد خيط من خيوط أخرى عديدة بغير حصر، لكنه يتألق وكأن النسيج لا يكتمل بهاءؤه إلا به، أو حتى لا يكون بدونه. وهكذا امتلكت يا أبا خلدون صنعة النسج الذكي والمكتوب، وهي صنعة لا يمتلكها إلا القليلون.
