السري الرفاء ( 000 - 366 هـ [ كذا في الأعلام ] = 000 - 976 م)
السري بن أحمد بن السري الكندي، أبو الحسن: شاعر، أديب من أهل الموصل.
كان في صباه يرفو ويطرز في دكان بها، فعرف بالرفاء.
ولما جاد شعره ومهر في الأدب قصد سيف الدولة بحلب، فمدحه وأقام عنده مدة.
ثم انتقل بعد وفاته إلى بغداد.
ومدح جماعة من الوزراء والأعيان، ونفق شعره إلى أن تصدى له الخالديان (محمد وسعيد ابنا هاشم) وكانت بينه وبينهما مهاجاة فآذياه وأبعداه عن مجالس الكبراء، فضاقت دنياه واضطر للعمل في الوراقة (النسخ والتجليد)
فجلس يورق شعره ويبيعه، ثم نسخ لغيره بالأجرة.
وركبة الدين، ومات ببغداد على تلك الحال.
وكان عذب الألفاظ، مفتنا في التشبيهات والأوصاف، ولم يكن له رواء ولا منظر.
