لم تعد الفارسية تدرس في مصر باعتبارها لغة من اللغات الحية في عالمنا المعاصر يتكلم بها إثنان من الشعوب الإسلامية الشقيقة هما الشعبان الإيراني والأفغاني وتربطنا بهما أوثق الروابط الثقافية والحضارية منذ أقدم العصور فحسب، وإنما أصبحت تدرس باعتبارها ممثلة لوجه آخر من وجوه الثقافة الإسلامية، تلك الثقافة المتعددة الجوانب المتنوعة المالب، فالثقافة الإسلامية وحدة واحدة لا تتجزأ عناصرها ولا تتنافر والتراث الإسلامي الذي كتب بالعربية والفارسية والتركية والأوردية إنما هو تراث واحد.
وهذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا يعد خدمة لهذه الفكرة فقد ألقى الضوء على أهم ما يتميز به الأدب الفارسي عن الآداب الإسلامية فعرض لنا عدد من أعلام الشعر الفارسي ولكل واحد من هؤلاء الأعلام لون خاص به، ثم استعرض لنا عددا من المصادر الفارسية في التاريخ الإسلامي وبين لنا اهتمامات كل منها على حدة، وانتقل إلى دراسة الظواهر الأدبية التي تميزت بها الفارسية ثم ختم ذلك كله بمجموعة من المختارات توخى فيها أن تخدم الفكرة الأساسية للكتاب وتقدم للدارس نماذج تفصح عن أصالة الأدب الفارسي وجودته وتنوعه، كما أنها تقدم معلومات جديدة في الوقت نفسه.
