تعد الدراسات التركية التي تهتم بدراسة تاريخ تركيا السياسي والاقتصادي والاجتماعي من الدراسات المطلوبة في الجامعات العراقية، أقسام تخصصية ومراكز بحثية، لأهميتها حاضرا ومستقبلا.
وهذا الكتاب يسلط الضوء على جوانب مهمة من التاريخ التركي الحديث والمعاصر، لا سيما جوانبه السياسية والاجتماعية والثقافية. النظام العلماني هوالأساس في بناء الدولة التركية الحديثة. ورغم انتصاره الظاهري منذ مطلع القرن العشرين، لكن في حقيقة الأمر كان الصراع كبير بينه وبين النظام الإسلامي الذي تمتد جذوره بعمق في المجتمع التركي.
تناول المبحث الأول الدبلوماسية الأمريكية تجاه الدولة العثمانية قبل انهيارها في الحرب العالمية الأولى (1914 – 1918).
وفي المبحث الثاني كان الحديث عن الكرد في تركيا في عهد مصطفى كمال أتاتورك (1923 – 1938)
وفي المبحث الثالث كان للأرمن دراسة مقتضبة عن مكان سكانهم وعلاقتهم بالدولة العثمانية وروسيا.
أما المبحث الرابع فسلط الضوء على الحركة النورسية وتطوراتها في تركيا حتى عام 1960، وهي السنة التي توفي فيها زعيمها بديع الزمان النورسي.
ثم تناول المبحث الخامس معاهدة لوزان التي عقدت عام 1923م في مدينى لوزان السويسرية بين حكومة انقرة التركية ودول الحلفاء والتي حصلت فيها تركيا على نصر دبلوماسي كيبر.
وفي المبحث السادس نوقشت تطورات التيار الإسلامي حتى عام 1960.
واختص المبحث السابع والأخير دراسة شخصية إسلامية كبيرة، لها تأثيرها الكبير على الساحة السياسية التركية في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين، إنه نجم الدين أركبان مهندس الفكر السياسي الإسلامي في تركيا، إن يكسر علمانية أتاتورك بوسائل حضارية تعبر عن عبقرية هذا الرجل الطموح.
