يكْشِفُ لنا طارق بنات السّتار المُسدل على خيبات مجتمعاتنا، ويصـر بعيْن المُبصـر لصغائر حيثيّاتها أن يواجهها بصمود، ويدافع عن تقبُّلها بشموخ الصَّخر العصـي على الانمحاء، هذا الأمر جعل المجموعة ليست مجرَّد سـرد قصصـي بقدر ما هي مزيج فلسفي فكري متدفِّق بالعاطفة الحيّة
عَرَضَتْ المجموعة "خيبة" لثلاثة أنماط من الفنّ الكتابي: الومضة، القصّة القصـيرة جداً، والقصّة القصـيرة. أمّا ما ربطها جميعاً فهو تصوير الخيبات، فعَرَضَتْها القصص بأنساق لغويّة واضحة ومعانٍ محدَّدة، منها: خَيْبة الحب، وخَيْبة العلاقات الزوجيّة والخيانة، وخَيْبة الفقر والأوضاع الاجتماعيّة المتردِّية، وخَيْبة الفقد وضـياع الحب.
وبرمزيّة عالية يبيِّن أضـرار هذه الخيبات على المجتمع أولاً ثم الفرد حين يغدو بلا دافعيّة.
