يعتبر خط الرقعة من الخطوط الواضحة نظراً لسهولة تكوين أشكال الحروف الأبجدية فيه ولما كانت الحاجة إلأى خط خال من تعقيد الأحرف كالخطوط الأخرى ونذكر منها خط، الثلث والنسخ والإجازة والديواني والجلي الديواني ثم الخط الفارسي (النستعليق)، كانت الأهمية في البحث عن خط أحرفه سهلة ويكون أيضاً هو خط كتابتنا اليومية في الرسائل والمواضيع الأخرى ثم يكون الخط المعتمد في المدارس التعليمية، حينها وجدت هذه الشكال لهذا الخط وسمي بخط الرقعة (الواضح) وهذا كان في مطلع القرن العشرين.
