كثيرة هي المواقف التي تصدر من البعض على خلاف ما يُضمرون، وكثيرة هي المواقف التي تصدر من البعض فتنبئ عما يضمرون. فهذه المضمرات هي في الحقيقة (خبايا) تأتي الحوادث فتظهرها.
و(الخبايا) جمع خبيئة، المصدر (الخبء) وهو كل شيء غائب مستور، ويطلق أيضا على ما يضمره الإنسان في نفسه مختبرا به غيره.
(والتواريخ) جمع توريخ، وهي من مرادفات التاريخ، والمختصون بهذا العلم تكلموا كثيرا حول مفهوم التاريخ، وبداياته، وتطوراته، ومناهجه. ودرسوا منشأ الكلمة ومصدرها وتصريفاتها، فقالوا: «التأريخ بالهمز، والتاريخ بتسهيل الهمز، والتوريخ، كلها كلمات ترادف بالعربية كلمة Histoire بالفرنسية وHistory بالإنكليزية».
فاخترت من بينها لفظة (التوريخ) لغرابتها أولا، وللفت النظر ثانيا. فالأذن كما العين، إذا ألفت الشيء لم تعره كبير اهتمام.
