عندما فتح الإنسان عينيه وجد تحته أرضاً مدحية صالحة للزراعة والبناء فأخذ يزرعها كما يشاء، ويبنيها كما يريد.. ووجد فوقه سماء مبنية، فيها شمس تنير نهارها، وقمر يزين ليلها، ونجوم ترمش له في ظلمتها.. ورأى حوله كل ما يحتاج إليه لمعيشته وسعادته، فتساءل عمن صنع كل ذلك؟ وعمن يملكه؟ وعمن يدبر أمره؟
وعندنا نظر إلى نفسه، رأى فيها آثار الحكمة والقدرة والقوة فتساءل عمن خلقه وصنعه، وأعطاه الوعي والعلم والعقل والإرادة؟ ولما رجع إلى وحدانه سمعه يقول له بوضوح: إن لك رباً قد خلقك.
فآمن بالله أكثر الناس، فكان الإيمان هو الأصل، وإن كان هنالك بعض الشذوذ الذين شكوا في وجوده تعالى.
وإذا كان إيمان المؤمنين قائماً على ما يجدونه من آيات الله تعالى في الكون وفي أنفسهم، فإن الملحدين لا يجدون دليلاً على كفرهم إلا التشكيك.
إن هذا الكتاب هو نقاش جاد حول الإلحاد، استعرض فيه المؤلف حجج الملحدين وتشكيكاتهم، وأجاب عليها.
