على خلفية اتهامها بمقتل أستاذها في الجامعة المعادي للسلطة والذي يعاني من أحد الامراض النفسية المعقدة و النادرة(غدي)؛ تُزَجّّ (تاج) خلف القضبان حيث تتجرّع مرارة الانسلاخ عن الواقع وعدم القدرة على نسيان الماضي القذر ..يقلّب السجن على تاج مواجع الحب والندم والالم والشوق الى القتيل ، فتعيش في لوعة الذكرى الجميلة معه من جهة والأسى الذي تجرّعته على يد خطيبها سيف الخاضع لأحد المسؤولين الفاسدين من جهة أخرى..فتصل الى حد التوهم والجنون من جلد الذات لجريمة تعلم جيدا انها مشاركة بها بشكل او بآخر..
تدور الاحداث على إطارين زمنين متقاطعين: الحاضر المرير والماضي المُتعب في آن معا..
أمر غريب جدا يحدث فيغير مسار الرواية بأكملها وبالتالي ينقلب مصير السجينة على عقبيه..
فهل ثمة نجاة من مشنقة الندم؟ ومن تراه ينتصر سيف الماضي ام الغد الآتي؟
