قِصصٌ ومَواقفُ لأُناسٍ طيبين بُسطاء، وغيرهم شِرِّيرُون ذوو دَهاء، عِشتُ بعضها خلال فترةٍ من فترات عمَلي كوكيل للنائب العام في عددٍ من بِقاع الرِّيف في مِصرنا الحبيبة، وعايَشْتُ أُخرى خِلال ما نظرْتُه من قضايا أثناء عمَلي كقاضٍ، وغيرها مما قرأتُ في تراثنا القَضائي الغَنيّ بالأحداث والمواقف ذواتِ المعَاني والمَغازي.
حدثَتْ في زمان وَلَّى؛ ولم تَزَل تَحدُثُ وتتكرَّر؛ وإنْ اخْتلفَتْ مَسارح الأحداث والشُّخوص.
لم أبْتغِ من حكايتها إبرازُ جُرْم، ولا تَرْويعُ قارئ، وإنما كانت بُغْيَتي كشْفُ بعضٍ من مَستور النفْس البشرية؛ وشيء من غَرابَتها ودِقَّة أسرارها، ذلك الإناءُ العَجيب، الذى إنْ نضَحَ بالخير مرَّة؛ نضحَ بالشرِّ ألف مرَّة، ولكي نَعِي ونتدبَّر ونتأمل ونَتبصَّر، وفي النهاية لندُقَّ من خلالها ناقوس خطر.
