ذكّرتني بنصوص زكريا تامر. أعرف أن الكاتب الأصيل قد ينزعج من تشبيهه بكاتب آخر، ولكن قد يشفع لي أنني أحب قصص زكريا تامر جدًا ومن هنا أكون قصدت الإطراء لا الانتقاص من قيمة القصص. قرأتها أول أمس فأحببتها، ثم عدت لقراءتها الآن فكانت استجابتي هي نفسها. نحن إذن أمام مشروع كاتب أصيل وكبير فلا أرجو منك سوى الحرص على نفسك ومواصلة المشروع لأنه يخصّنا جميعًا.
إنها ليست قصصًا. إنها شذرات من أحلام. تدور على حافة واقع من أثير يتشكل ليصبح رمزًا أو أمثولة أو وخزة تدخل القلب دون أن تدميه. ومن خلال تلك الأمثولات البالغة القصر يبدو أحمد الديب مثل بحار عجوز يغوص في بحر بلا قرار. يبحث عن حكمة ضائعة، يسعى خلف سراب، يجمع أصدافاً فارغة، ولكن موهبته في القص تجعله يعود وجرابه مليء بحكايات هذا الكتاب.
ظل هذا المقطع "من هذا البهاء تولد أغنيتي" يتردد في أغنية طاغور وتترجع أصداؤه في نفسي، فأُلامس عَبْرَه كُنه السحر في نصوص أحمد الديب القصصية، التي لا تقل أبدا في رقيها وتحليقها وعبقها عن أغنيات طاغور، وتوازي بدقة النثر ونصوعه علو السبك الشعري عند شاعر الهند الكبير، ثم يأتي المشترك الأعظم بين طاغور الهندي، وطاغورنا السكندري، والذي أحدس أن فيه سر السحر. إنه إدراك روح الكون والكائنات.
