وصف كتاب حكايات الأخوين غريم تأليف (الأخوين غريم) :
من منا لم يسمع عن قصة سندريلا الفتاة اليتيمة التي عذبتها زوجة والدها ليأتي خلاصها في حفلة الأمير والجنية التي زينتها بعصاتها السحرية؟ أو لم تخيفه والدته بقصة ذات الرداء الأحمر والذئب حتى لا يتحدث مع الغرباء؟ وغيرها من القصص التي سمعناها صغاراً وشاهدنها كباراً وقد حولتها ديزني لأفلام أصبحت ضمن أيقونات السينما.
كل هذه القصص التي عرفناها وأخرى كثيرة لم نعرفها جمعها أخوين هما جايكوب وويليام جريم من الفلكلور والتراث الأوربي والألماني بوجه خاص وتم نشرها لأول مرة عام 1812 في كتاب باسم قصص الاسرة والطفل والتي عرفها العالم بعد ذلك باسم Grimm’s Fairy Tales.
