روائي كويتي من مواليد عام 1958 حصل على بكالوريوس الهندسة المدنية من جامعة الكويت عام 1982 بدأ الكتابة الأدبية في أثناء الدراسة الجامعية في منتصف السبعينات. أصدر ست مجموعات قصصية منها: “أبوعجاج طال عمرك”، “أغمض روحي عليك”، “مرآة الغبش”، “حكايا رملية”، “سرقات صغيرة”. وأصدر أربع روايات منها: “ظل الشمس”، “رائحة البحر”، “الثوب”، ترجمت بعض أعماله إلى الإنجليزية والفرنسية والألمانية رأس لجنة التحكيم لجائزة البوكر العربية فى دورتها الثالثة 2010.

رواية «حابي» تزيح الغطاء عن حكاية فتاة كويتية تدرس في المرحلة الثانوية في مدرسة أجنبية، وخلافاً لزميلاتها في المدرسة تأخرت عليها الدورة الشهرية أكثر من المعتاد، حتى وصلت لسن السادسة عشرة، ما اضطرها إلى الضغط على والدتها للتحقق من حالتها. وتأتي المفاجأة مع أول فحص طبي لهرمون الذكورة التستوستيرون، حيث النسبة المرتفعة، التي تجبر الأم لفحص الجينات، ولحظتها تكون الصدمة الكبرى بكشف جنس الفتاة، وكونها ولداً وليست بنتاً.
الرواية، وبقدر ما تتناول محنة ومعاناة فتاة، فإنها تسلط الضوء الفاضح على انقسام أسرتها بين معارض بشدة لتحوّلها خوفاً من الفضيحة بين الأهل والأقارب والجيران وعموم المجتمع، وبين أم تتخذ قرارها الصعب والجريء بوقوفها إلى جانب قضية ابنتها العادلة مهما كلفت الأثمان. استناداً إلى التقارير الطبية والفحوصات التي أثبتت بما لا يدع مجالاً للشك أن الفتاة ولد.
