الكتاب مجموعة من الخواطر النثرية الوجدانية التي تتناول موضع الرثاء ..رثاء الجد , حيث كان فقدانه مؤثراً جداً في نفس الكاتبة/ حفيدته.. مما أثار شجونها, وهيّج مشاعرها الحزينة.. فكتبت له هذه المرثية التي تصف فيها مشاعرها الجياشة.. وما عانته من ألم الفراق.. وكيف ظلت ذكرى جدّها ترافقها في كلّ مكان.. وكانت كثيراً ما تحدّثه على البعد وتراه قريباً داعماً .. تخبره يومياتها ونجاحاتها.. متمنية له الرحمة والسلام..
وترى أن لفقدان الجد في حياة الأحفاد أثراً كبيراً جدا لا يمحى ولا يزول من الذاكرة .. ولعل أفضل ما يواسي النفس ويصبرها هو أن تتحول الأحزان إلى كلمات وفنّ وإبداع ينزل على الورق .
