هذه الثلاثيات هي أعلى ما وقع للإمام البخاري في أسانيد جامعه الصحيح، أن تقع بينه وبين رسول الله ﷺ ثلاث وسائط: شيخه، ثم التابعي، ثم الصحابي. ووقع له من هذا النوع اثنان وعشرون حديثا.
وقد تم ترتيب ثلاثيات البخاري في هذه المجموعة حسب شيوخه الخمسة الذين يرويها عنهم. ووضع إلى جنب كل حديث رقمان: أحدهما تستلسلي يمثل ترتيب ورود الحديث في هذه المجموعة، والثاني -وهو بين القوسين المربعين- يعطي رقم الحديث كما هو في أصل صحيح البخاري.
