يؤكد المؤلف "مرتضى مطهري" في هذا الكتاب على أن الأخلاق ثابتة بثبات الإسلام الذي هو بدوره ثابت إلى أن يرث الله الأرض ومن عليها. يعالج الباحث موضوع ثبات الأخلاق من منطلق فلسفي منطقي بحت، حيث يطرح القضية للتوصل إلى نتيجة من خلال برهان منطقي، ومثاله برهانه على ثبات المعنى الأخلاقي في الصدق، فلا أحد يمكنه إنكار أن الصدق حسن لما فيه من خدمة للآخرين. فلو ترتب عليه ضرر للآخرين كان قبيحاً. وعلى وفق هذا التوجيه يصل إلى أصل أخلاقي تتغير مصاديقه وهو ثابت، إلى جانب ذلك فقد أفرد المؤلف جزءاً من بحثه لمناقشة مقالة الطباطبائي والذي يتحدث فيه عن قدرة الذهن وعمله، وعلاقته بثبوت الأخلاق.
