إن التسييس الشامل، وامتصاص السياسية الأشياء كلها، والإنسان كله، يستوي وظاهرة تمرد الجماهير الموصوفة. لقد فقد الجمهور المتمرد كل قدرة على التدين والمعرفة. ولم يعد صدره يتسع إلا للسياسة، لسياسة مفرطة، مجنونة خارجة من ذاتها، لأنها تطمح الى أن تحل محل المعرفة والدين والحكمة، وأخيراً محل الأشياء الوحيدة التي بجوهرها معدة كما تحتل مركز ذهن الانسان. والسياسة تنتزع المرء من فردانيته وتحد من حميميته. لذلك كان التبشير بالتسييس الشامل إحدى التقنيات التي تستعمل لتشريكه. وإذا سألنا أخد ماذا نحن في السياسة، أو إذا استبقنا بالوقاحة التي تنتمي الى أسلوب عصرنا، فيلحقنا بسياسة ما، ينبغي لنا أن نسأل المزعج عوضاً عن أن نجيبه: ماذا يحسب هو الإنسان والطبيعة والتاريخ، وما المجتمع والفرد، والجماعة والدولة والعرف والحق. لأن السياسة تبادر الى إطفاء الأضواء كما تبدو هذه القطط كلها رمادية قاتمة.
