(جيك كونلى) هو جندى من جنود البحرية الأمريكية، الذى قرر التقاعد مبكراً والذهاب إلى موطنة بقرية صغيرة على شاطىء المحيط الأطلسى فى الشرق الأمريكى. بعد وصوله للقرية يبدأ فى توثيق معرفته ببعض الأصدقاء القدامى, والجدد على حد سواء. فى نفس وقت وصوله للقرية تقريباً, يصل شئ أخر غامض قادماً من البحر.. ومع وصول هذا الشئ. تبدأ بعض حوادث الإختفاء، وبعض الحوادث الأخرى الغريبة مبهمة الحدوث. ويستشرى فى القرية شر من نوع جديد. شر يريد القضاء على أهل القرية جميعاً. هل سيتمكن (جيك) من محاربة هذا الشر المستطير الذى لحق به فى قريته، أم أنه سوف يتخلى عن موطنه ويهرب إلى حيث أتى؟!.
