قرر قلم المؤلف أن يقحم نفسه في قصة رومانسية، فكانت الثمرة هذه الرواية. تحكي هذه الرواية، علاقة حب قد تكون للبعض قصة واقعية وبعيدة كل البعد عن ضروب الخيال لرجل متزوج. الحب الثاني الذي أوقع بطل القصة "مناف" من الكويت بحب بطلتها "بارعة" من لبنان. كان كلاهما في منتصف العمر. ومناف رجل متزوج أحب امرأة أخرى إلى جانب حب زوجته "دلال". فهل من الممكن ان يقع رجل متزوج في حب امرأة ثانية؟ وهل من الممكن أن يجمع الرجل حب امرأتين في قلبه في آن واحد؟ وهل يكون الحب الثاني حقيقة أم مجرد نزوة وشهوة عابرة؟ يطرح القاص هذه التساؤلات من منطلق أن بطل الرواية عاش قصة حب حقيقية عصفت بكل ما في نفسه، توجت بالزواج، وعصفت بحياته الزوجية من الزوجة الأولى إلى الدمار... والسؤال الأهم هنا، لماذا يبحث الكثير من الرجال المتزوجين عنه بديل لزوجاتهم دون أن يكون هناك تقصير منهن تجاه أزواجهن؟ وعلى الرغم من أن المحور الأساسي للرواية قصة حب عاصفة، إلا أنها تستعرض بعض الأمور التي تعصف في المجتمع العربي مثل الحروب والويلات. فكان لا بد من القلم لاستعراض بعض الأمور النفسية الخطيرة التي تؤثر في أناس عايشوا مثل هذا الواقع في الرواية.
