تساو يو (24 سبتمبر , 1910— 13 ديسمبر , 1996) كاتب مسرحي صيني شهير اسمه الاصلي وان جيا باو ولقبه شي الصغير ولد في اسرة أرستقراطية لأب يكتب الشعر و الرواية و المقال.يرجع الفضل الأول في اهتمام تساو يو بالأدب إلى والده. كما يعتبر تساو يو من أبرز الكتاب في القرن العشرين و من أشهر اعماله المسرحية العاصفة الرعدية 1933 و شروق الشمس (مسرحية) 1936 و أهل بكين عام 1940 ولا زال تأثير تساو يو على المسرح الصيني واضحا فهو علم من اعلام الأدب الصيني.

مسرحية أهل بكين تأليف تساو يو، في هذا المسرحيته وصف الكاتب "إنسان بكين" بقوله:
" هو جد البشرية وأملها أيضا. إن أراد الحب أحب، وإن أراد الكره كره، إن أراد البكاء بكى، وإن أراد الصراخ صرخ. لا يخاف الموت ولا يهاب الحياة. لا يهتمون إلا لطباعهم، يعيشون بحرية، لا تقاليد تقلدهم ولا ثقافة تحد من حريتهم، لا نفاق، ولا غش، ولا دسائس، ولا قتال، ولا قلق. يأكلون اللحم ويشربون الدماء. الشمس تلفحهم، والريح تعصف بهم، والمطر يبللهم. لا يوجد إنسان يأكل لحم إنسان بهذا العدد كما هو الآن، وهم سعداء!".
كما حاول إيصال رسالة ترمي إلى "تحرير" الناس مما يعيشه الشخصيات في مسرحيته ليتخلصوا من الأحمال التاريخية والثقافية.
