ذكر في التاريخ: أنه ﷺ كان يرحب بالوفود بشخصه، ويوسع لرؤسائهم في المجالس، ويجلس إليهم، ويؤنسهم في الحديث، ويتلقاهم بالبشر وطلاقة الوجه، ويكلمهم باللين والرفق واللطف، ويسألهم عن أهاليهم وبلادهم، ويدعو لهم، ويغير الأسماء غير الجميلة منهم إلى أسماء حسنة، ويحلم عن جاهلهم، ويعفو عن مسيئهم.
ويطلق الأسرى منهم عندما يدخل وفد ويطلب ذلك من النبي ﷺ ويرجعهم إلى أهاليهم.
في هذا الكتاب أردنا أن نبين فصلاً من سيرته العطرة في كيفية تعامله ﷺ مع الوفود أشخاصاً وقبائلَ ممن وفدوا اليه راغبين أو خشية من قوة المسلمين ليَتَبَيَّن لنا وجه جديد ناصع من وجوه السيرة النبوية -وكلها ناصع- ولنقتديَ برسول الله ﷺ في كل أمور حياتنا كما أمرنا الله تعالى.
