اليوم قتلت رجلاً، ظاهرياً، يبدو في سني أو أقل قليلاً، شاب نحيف، أسمر، بشارب منتفش لحظتها، أطلقت النار دون تفكير، ولم تطاردني الأسئلة الملحاحة إلا بعد أن اقتربت من جثته الملقاة وسط الطريق، انتصب وسط القارعة، شاهراً سيفه، أكيد أنه كان في انتظارنا، صوّب نظره الثاقب نحونا، وهو واقف تلك الوقفة التمثالية. هل تخيل نفسه جداراً سميكاً سيوقف السيارة عند قدميه؟ شعره طويل وملتصق بالأوساخ، متشابك ومبروم مثل عطفة الكروم، من بعيد، حسبته مستغيثاً من خطر يلاحقه وسط هذه المزارع المخيفة. كنت جالساً بمحاذاة السائق، أمسك بين يدي رشاش الكلاشنيكوف، مصوباً الماسورة نحو الفتحة الزجاجية الموجودة على يميني، الشيء الذي أقنعني بإطلاق النار هو ذاك اللباس الغريب وتلك الهيئة العدوانية التي لاحت على حركاته، خاصة ذلك السيف الذي مسكه بإحكام، رافعاً إياه نحو السماء، في دورات حلزونية سريعة.
