"بِالنسبة إِلىٰ معظمنا، فإن تعلُّم شيء “بالطريقة الصعبة” يعني إضاعة الوقت والجهد. نعتقد أَنَّ التعليم الجيّد يجب أَن يتم تصميمه بِطريقة إبداعية، ويجب أَن يُستخدم إستراتيجيات تجعل التعلم أسهل، يقلب كتاب “اجعله يثبت” أفكارًا عصرية مثل هذِه رأسًا علىٰ عقب. يقدِّم المؤلفون تقنياتٍ مُتماسكة لنصبح مُتعلمين أكثر فاعلية بِالاعتماد علىٰ الاكتشافات الحديثة فِي علم النفس المعرفي والتخصصات الأُخرىٰ.
تلعب الذاكرة دورًا مركزيًّا فِي قدرتنا علىٰ تنفيذ المهام المعرفية المُعقدة، مثل تطبيق معارفنا علىٰ المُشكلات الّتي لَم نواجهها مِن قبل، واستخلاص الاستنتاجات مِنَ الحقائق المعروفة لدينا بِالفعل. إِنَّ مواجهة العوائق الّتي تجعل التعلُّم صعبًا يؤدي إِلىٰ إتقان أكثر عمقًا واحتفاظًا أفضّل بِما تم تعلمه. تبين أَنَّ العديد مِن عادات الدراسة الشائعة وإجراءات المُمارسة الروتينية تأتي بِنتائج عكسية؛ إِنَّ الاطلاع علىٰ معارف ومهارات جديدة وتسليط الضوء عليها وإعادة قراءتها وحشرها يخلق وهمَ الإتقان، لكن المعارف الّتي نكتسبها بِتلك الطريقة تتلاشىٰ بِسرعة.
يأتي التعلم الأكثر عمقًا مِنَ الاختبار الذاتي عَن قرب، وإدخال بعض الصعوبات فِي المُمارسة، والقيام بِمُمارسة مهارة أو موضوع بِالتداخل مَع موضوع آخر. سوف يجذب كتاب “اجعله يثبت” جميع المُهتمين بِالتعلم كرحلة مُستمرة مدىٰ الحياة."
