خيري شلبي، روائي وقاص وصحفي، ولد في 31 يناير عام 1938. بدأ العمل بصحيفة «الجمهورية»، ثم نال منحة تفرغ (1964)، ثم عمل سكرتيرًا لتحرير مجلة «المسرح»، ثم صحفيًّا بمجلة «الإذاعة والتلفزيون» (1967). رأس تحرير مجلة «الشعر» وسلسلة مكتبة الدراسات الشعبية. توالت أعماله الروائية والقصصية ومنها: «السنيورة» و«الوتد» و«وكالة عطية» و«صهاريج اللؤلؤ» و«زهرة الخشخاش» و«صحراء المماليك» و«صاحب السعادة اللص» و«المنحنى الخطر» و«سارق الفرح».
