تمرّ عليّ أزمنة وملوك ومدن... أنتقل من عهد إلى عهدٍ... لأدخل في موروثاتهم وذاكرتهم هذا يقتلني، وذاك يعشقني، وثالث يطردني، ورابع يجعل مني مقبرة لنزواته، وآخر سيفاً لثاراته، وقد يجعلني جذعاً لفروعه، لكني أظل بين مد وجزر، بين أميرة وجارية، لا قرار لي، يقررون عني، يتحدثون بإسمي، يحاربون دون تكليف منّي، يقابضون بي.
أنا الأم والأخت والزوجة والقديسة والعاهرة، والرجل مني وأنا منه، يتاجرون بأشلائي، وأنا أظل أبحث عن أشلائي في كل جيل، أبحث عن اسمي في كل اسم، أرنو إلى البحر فأشعر بشوق عارم إلى مائه، إلى السفر فيه، أنظر إلى اليابسة، تمر أشلائي في بشَر لا أعرفهم وأرى وحوشاً تتصارع، ودماء تجرف الحجارة، وأرى قصوراً تُبنى حجارتها من جسدي، أرى كل هذا ولا أعرف من أكون، بلقيس، أم عنتُ... أم فاطمة، لكني أظل في حلم قاتل بالمستقبل الذي أهزّ فيه نخيل الخلود فأكون عصيّة على الطوفان...
