تقع الرواية في 393 صفحة من الحجم المتوسط، وتنقسم إلى ثلاثة أقسام معنونة كالتالي: الزلزال/ زمن الغضب والثورة/ عودة السلمون. تنتمي شخصيات الرواية إلى مرحلة السبعينيات من القرن الماضي. أما أحداثها فتمتد من أوائل تلك المرحلة إلى أواخر العقد الأول من الألفية الثالثة، وتدور ما بين مدن فاس والرباط، والدار البيضاء بالمغرب، ومدينة بوردو بفرنسا. وقد زُيّن ظهر الغلاف بمقتطف من التنويه الذي صدرت به الكاتبة روايتها جاء فيه: "كنت وأنا أكتب هذه الرواية، أحلم بتحقيق الحلم الذي ضحى جيلي من أجله... أحلم بأن يحلم الشباب العربي الأحلام الكبرى التي تتسع للوطن العربي كله؛ لكني لم أكن أتخيل أبدا أن "زمن الغضب والثورة" قد يعود مجددا، وأن الشباب العربي يحلم نفس أحلامنا، وأن الشعوب العربية ستكون قادرة على الغضب لدرجة الثورة وإسقاط الأنظمة الديكتاتورية! غير أن سوء ظني خاب! ويا لروعة هذه الخيبة! أعتقد جازمة، أني لو لم أكن قد أغلقت باب هذه الرواية نهائيا، قبيل ثورة تونس الرائدة، لكان شخوصها الحالمون بالتغيير والمؤمنون بالوحدة العربية، قد طاروا إلى تونس العظيمة وإلى مصر -قلب العروبة- لينظموا إلى الثوار البواسل؛ ولكانوا احتفلوا بتحقيق الحلم بدل احتفالهم بكونهم ما يزالون قيد الحلم".
