عبيد الله بن أحمد بن خرداذبه(2) ، أبو القاسم: مؤرخ جغرافي، فارسي الأصل.
من أهل بغداد.
كان جده خرداذبه مجوسيا
أسلم على يد البرامكة.
واتصل عبيد الله بالمعتمد العباسي، فولاه البريد والخبر بنواحي الجبل، وجعله من ندمائه.
له تصانيف، منها «المسالك والممالك - ط» و «جمهرة أنساب الفرس» و «اللهو والملاهي - ط» مختارات منه، و «الشراب»

(1) اضطرب النقلة في تحقيق ضبطه، واعتمدت على ما جاء في لسان الميزان 4: 96 «آخره باء موحدة مضمومة، ثم هاء ليست للتأنيث» والمستشرقون بكتبونها Khordadhbeh بكسر الباء.
وفي القاموس وشرحه مادة «روم» ابن خرداذِيْه، بالياء الساكنة وقبلها ذال مكسورة. وفي خطط المقريزي 1: 184 بدالين وباء «خرداديه» وفي مقال لمحمد مسعود في الأهرام 28 / 6 / 1935 أن أحد المعاصرين يجزم بأنها «خرداذبه» بكسر الذال وتشديد الباء، ومعناها بالفارسية «المنحة الفاخرة من الشمس». وفي مجلة الرسالة 10 - 325 تحقيق من إنشاء كوركيس عواد انتهي فيه إلى أنه بسكون الذال وفتح الباء وسكن الهاء
(2) المصادر المتقدمة في الحاشية السابقة. وابن النديم 149 وأرندنك C. Von Arendonk في دائرة المعارف الإسلامية 1: 149 وسماه «عبيد الله بن عبد الله» كما في كشف الظنون 1665 ونقل وفاته حوالي سنة 300 هـ. ومثله في هدية العارفين 1: 645 وانظر مجله المجمع 50: 407.
