ظللت لفترة فى عدم توازن...لم استطع الافاقة من صدمة فقدانك...و فى يوم من الايام كنت جالساً كالعادة بمكتبى, واثناء مطالعتى كتاباً من كتبى...انتابنى بعض من الشرود...تذكرت جملة قيلت لى من سنين عديدة..فى ارض بعيده عن ارضنا...تذكرت اجتماعى بالسيد "ديمتريف" فى ذلك القبو المهجور ذى الاضاءة الخافتة...ترددت كلماته فى اركان عقلى و كأننى اسمعها الآن...
"...ذلك السر سوف يغير من حياتك إلى الابد..و انت الوحيد الذى اراه جديراً بأن يعلمه معى...و ان تحمل الراية من بعدى إذا توفيت...فهل ستثبت لى جدارتك بالفعل ؟ "
امتدت يدى لا شعورياً إلى درج مكتبى الذى تراكم عليه التراب لسنوات...اولجت المفتاح فى قفله و ادرته لأجد امامى الاوراق الاولى لبحث السيد "ديمتريف"....ترددت كلماته فى ذهنى...لتتكون بدايات فكرة جنونية فى اعماق عقلى...فكرة لم اعلم انها ستغير حياتى إلى الابد بالفعل...سوف اكمل تلك التجربة....سوف اصنع بنفسى ألة الزمن..
