عالم نفس وفيلسوف إنساني ألماني أمريكي ولد في مدينة فرانكفورت -ألمانيا في 23 مارس عام 1900. هاجر إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في 1934 من أعماله :الخوف من الحرية (1941) التحليل النفسى والدين (1950) اللغة المنسية : مدخل إلى فهم الأحلام والقصص الخيالية والأساطير (1951) المجتمع العاقل (1955) رسالة سيجموند فرويد : تحليل لشخصيته وتأثيره (1959) أزمة التحليل النفسى : مقالات عن فرويد وماركس وعلم النفس الاجتماعى (1970) تشريح نزوع الإنسان إلى التدمير (1973) كما حرر كتبا، بأقلام كتاب متعددين عن بوذية زن ومفهوم ماركس للإنسان وغيرها توفي فروم في 23 مارس عام 1980.
Book Description
يشكل هذا الكتاب استعادة واستكمالاً لسلسلة المحاضرات التي ألقاها "أريك فروم" على سبيل التمهيد والتوطئة أمام طلاب معهد وليام وايت للطب العقلي ومعهد بينغتون. فهو يتوجه لجمهور مماثل لجمهور هذين المعهدين، أي للطالب الذي درس الطب العقلي والنفساني، فضلاً عن الشخص العادي الذي يهتم بمثل هذه الأمور.
ويستدل من عنوان الكتاب على أن هذا الكتاب إنما هو مدخل لفهم الكلام الرمزي، فهو بالتالي لا يتطرق إطلاقاً للعديد من المشكلات المعقدة التي تنتمي إلى هذا الحقل من الأبحاث الذي تتخطى دراسته بأشواط بعيدة غاية هذه المداخل. هكذا لم يتطرق مثلاً إلى دراسة النظرية الفرويدية إلا من زاوية "علم الأحلام" فضرب صحفاً على المفاهيم الصعبة التي توسع بها فرويد في كتاباته اللاحقة ومما تحدث عنه في الكتاب مقدماً حول دراسات مستفيضة نذكر: طبيعة الكلام الرمزي، طبيعة الحلم، فرويد ويونغ، تاريخ تفسير الأحلام، فن تفسير الأحلام، الكلام الرمزي في الأساطير والحكايات والطقوس والروايات.
