هذا كتاب عالي القدر دقيق المعاني كثير الدلالات، وضعه الإمام فخر الدين الرازي- رضي الله عنه- في علم "الفراسة" الذي يستدل بالخلق على الخلق، ويستدل بالظاهر على الطبائع التي في الباطن، وهو علم نفيس فيه من الغزارة والفوائد ما يفرح به العلماء والباحثون والعامة إذا استفادوا به كل في تخصصه ومجاله، فمثلًا يستطيع القاضي إلحاق النسب بالقيافة في هذا العلم من تتبع التشابه الظاهر بين المولود ووالده أو يستعين بأهل الخبرة في ذلك، ويستطيع الشرطي أن يتعرف به على من يشتبه في كونهم مجرمين في حيز عمله، ويستطيع الطبيب أن يرجح وجود مرض أو خلل بالعضو من شكله الخارجي، ويستطيع الإنسان عمومًا أن يلتمس به أن يتعامل مع أصحاب الأخلاق الحسنة ويتجنب شرار الخلق منهم، إلى غير ذلك من الفوائد التي لا يدركها القارئ إلا عند السباحة في بحر هذا الكتاب الذي حوى جواهرًا في مكنون صدفاته.
