نشرت مجلة "المسلمون" الغراء سلسلة مقالات للكاتب "أبو الحسن علي الحسني الندوي" بعنوان "تأملات في سورة الكهف" نشرتها تباعاً في عام 1377هـ- 1978م (المجلد السادس عدد 1،2،3،4)، وحظيت بالعناية والإعجاب في الأوساط العلمية الدينية، ولعلها كانت عابثة لكثير من القراء على دراسة هذه السورة الكريمة والتأمل فيها من جديد، والاقتناع بأن بينها وبين فتن هذا العصر، والقدرة على مقاومتها صلة قوية عميقة، وبقيت هذه المقالات دفينة مطمورة في مجلدات المجلة، لا يتسع وقت الكاتب لتنقيحها والزيادة فيها، ولنشرها في كتاب، حتى جدت حوادث في العالمين العربي والإسلامي، ورأى المؤلف، افتتان العقول والنفوس بالمادية، وسرعة إيمانها بكل دعوة برعت وفاقت في التدجيل والتلبيس، ورأى قصة الصراع بين الإيمان والمادية تمثل على مسرح العالم بصفة عامة، وعلى مسرح الشرق العربي بصفة خاصة من جديد، وكل ذلك شحذ العزم على نشر هذه السلسلة، وجدت للمؤلف في هذه المدة دراسات وتأملات، وتفتحت له منافذ جديدة، وجوانب عديدة في التدبر في معاني هذه السورة.
فتناول هذه المقالات بالتحرير والزيادة، وضم إليها مواد جديدة، وبحوثاً مقارنة في قصة أصحاب الكهف وذي القرنين تزيد هذه السلسلة قيمة علمية، وتجمل الباحثين على الدراسات المقارنة، وإثبات إعجاز القرآن وهدايته للإنسان في كل زمان ومكان. وبين طيات هذه الكتاب من سلسلة "كتب قيمة" نص هذه المقالات ومادتها.
