ما انفك الإنقاذيون مغرمين بالرمزية "والمكاواة" والمكابرة والاستكبار: ومن شبّ على شيء شاب عليه؛ فبالأمس داهمتنا الأخبار من كل صوب وحدب بأن قانون الانتخابات قد أجيز وخرج إلى حيز الوجود ورحّب به العديد من المعارضين، وحسبنا أن ثمة انفراجة على الأبواب، وأن الانتخابات أفضل من عدمها، ولكن لم تدم الفرحة لأكثر من أربع وعشرين ساعة، إذ انقلبت حكومة الانقاذ فجأة على شريكها الأكبر "الحركة الشعبية" وجرّدت أمينها العام من حصانته الدبلوماسية ليقدم لمحاكمة بسبب آراء حرة أطلقها في ندوة محترمة أمام جمع من المثقفين بدار (أجراس الحرية)، متهماً السلطة بأنها "فاسدة وفاشلة"؛ ومثل هذا المشهد كان قد حدث قبل بضعة شهور بأم درمان، عندما أبرم قادة المؤتمر الوطني إتفاقية "التراضي الوطني" مع حزب الأمة بدار الصادق المهدي، وبعد يوم واحد حضر البشير احتفالاً لجهاز أمن الدولة وخطب وأرغى وأزبد بحماس أكثر وحبور أعظم وهو يؤكد الدور القمعي والإرهابي لهذا الجهاز سيئ السمعة.
