يزن العتوم شاب ثلاثيني قارئ ومهتم في مجال الدراسات الدينية والفلسفة والعلوم الفيزيائية، ولد عام ١٩٩١ في العاصمة الأردنية عمان.
التحق بكلية الهندسة حيث حصل على درجتي البكالوريوس والماجستير من الجامعة الأردنية. قام يزن بتأليف كتابه الأول السؤال الأعظم سنة ٢٠٢٢ حيث يناقش الكتاب قضايا فلسفية دينية عميقة من وجهة النظر الكاتب وعلى لسان شخصيات القصة.

تبدأ الرواية مع قصة أوستن ورحلته في البحث عن الله وعن سبب وجوده في هذه الحياة، كلها أسئلة لم يستطع أن يتخطاها بسبب طبيعته الفضولية على عكس أخيه مايكل الذي كان يأخذ كل ما يتعلمه كمسلّمة، منذ نعومة أظفار أوستن وهو لا يكفّ عن طرح الأسئلة والبحث عن إجابات، لا يرضيه أن يؤمن بشيء قبل أن يدخل عقله ويجد له جواباً مقبولاً لديه. تمضي بنا الرواية لتقص لنا رحلة أوستن في البحث عن جواب السؤال الأعظم لديه ، ونمضي معه في لحظات مفصلية في حياته تركت أثراً كبيراً به وكانت سبباً في ما يصبح عليه في نهاية الرواية.
بالتوازي تعرض الرواية قصة أحمد جابر وهو شاب باكستاني لعائلة مسلمة ملتزمة، ألحد بالله في سنين المراهقة بعد أن كان ملتزما دينياً كوالديه، ثم قام بالسفر إلى أميركا لإكمال دراسته والإستقرار هناك، حتى يلتقي عن طريق الصدفة بالطبيب النفسي الدكتور ميلر ليخوض الإثنان في كثير من الحوارات الفلسفية حول الله والوجود.
