يعتبر كتاب "الجفر الأعظم" بحراً من الأسرار، علمياً ومدعماً بأحاديث أهل البيت، أما مضمونه فيشتمل على ما تحدثت به الروايات عن اشتمال الكتاب على "علم المنايا والبلايا والرزايا وعلم ما كان وما يكون إلى يوم القيامة". ومن هنا كتب الشريف الجرجاني أنه ذكر في الجفر "الحوادث التي تحدث إلى نقراض العالم".
أما المضمون التفصيلي لكتاب الجفر الذي استعام به الباحث على كتابه "الجفر الأعظم" ينطوي ضمن العناوين التالية: الجفر يتحدث عن علي وذريته، الجفر يتحدث عن المهدي، الجفر يتحدث عن ملك بني هاشم. وورد أن في الجفر صفة كل زمان ومكان، وإخبار بالظهر والبطن.
ومن هذا الكتاب الهام نقتطف للقارئ الكريم هذه الشذرات من "دعاء الجفر الجامع" الذي ذكر في كتاب خزانة الأسرار للعلامة "محمد تقي المقدم"، يقول فيه: "بسم الله الواحد خير الأسماء سبحان المنزه عن الفحشاء، الحمد لله المحسن الفعال لما يشاء لا إله إلا الله الحميد سميع الدعاء الله أكبر من أن يشابه الأشياء رب اجعلني برحمتك من الأولياء يا الله يا الله المحبوب، استغفرك يا غفار الذنوب، استرزقك يا فلق الحبوب، استبصرك يا مقلب القلوب، استكفيك يا علام الغيوب، استدعيك يا كاشف ضر أيوب، استهديك بنورك المحجوب يا رحمن...".
يبقى أن نشير أن الكتاب يحتوي على ثلاثة أبواب: الباب الأول: أسرار الجفر. أما الباب الثاني: شروح خطب آخر الزمان، أما الباب الثالث: فيخبرنا عن الأحداث العالمية قبل الظهور وبعده. وأخيراً رايات آخر الزمان، وراية الإمام المهدي.
