محمد بن عيسى بن سَوْرة بن موسى بن الضحاك، الترمذي، أبو عيسى. مصنّف كتاب الجامع. حافظ، علم، إمام، بارع.
اختُلف فيه، فقيل: ولد أعمى، والصحيح أنه أضر في كِبره بعد رحلته وكتابته العلم. طاف البلاد وسمع خلقاً كثيراً من الخراسانيين، والعراقيين، والحجازيين، وغيرهم. كان يُضرب به المثل في الحفظ. هذا مع ورعه وزهده. صنّف الكثير، تصنيف رجل عالم متقن. ومن تصانيفه: كتابه الشهير الجامع؛ العلل؛ الشمائل النبوية وغيرها.
