يتناول الكاتب في روايته الجديدة حياة البحر والبحارة، حيث يسبر أغوارهم السحيقة، وما يقابلونه في عملهم في البحر وما يتعرضون له في حياتهم علي البر. ومن أجواء الرواية: “لا يُقد شفار سيفي، فلا روع ولج قلبي من إنس أو جن، ورغم أني الصائل في عُرضه، والممتطي صهوته، لكنه بعد أن لقف في أحشائه أخي – كامل الذي لم أوسده في لحد – أبغضته، بعد طعنتَه النجلاء التي قصمتني، فلم استطع درء خطره.. عندما نبغض لا نأمن”.
