في عالم تحكمه الأنساب، حيث يحدّد لون دمك قدرك…
يولد "راين" بوريثة دم مشوّه، نصفه من سلالة السحرة الزرق، ونصفه من المنبوذين أصحاب الدم الأحمر.
في مجتمعات لا ترحم، يصبح راين مطاردًا، لا لأنه خطر… بل لأنه سؤال بلا إجابة.
لكن حين يُفعّل كتابٌ قديم علامةً غريبة على صدره، يبدأ صراع بينه وبين قوة تسكن داخله:
زفير، كيان سحري يُغذيه الألم… ويطلب السيطرة.
مع كل خطوة، يفقد راين جزءًا من نفسه.
ويبدأ في التشكيك بكل من حوله، حتى إلينورا… الفتاة التي أحبها، واتضح لاحقًا أنها أُرسلت للتجسس عليه.
يكتشف راين أنه ليس مجرد خليط دماء…
بل هو المفتاح لبوابة قد تغيّر ميزان العالم كله.
لكن لفتحها، عليه أن يختار:
> إما أن يصبح لعنةً جديدة…
أو يختفي لينجو الآخرون.
وفي النهاية، يختار راين الفداء.
يضحّي بنفسه ليزيل كل العلامات من دماء البشر، ويعيد التوازن، ويمحو التفرقة بين الطبقات.
لكنه يفعل ذلك في صمت، تاركًا وراءه سطرًا واحدًا:
> "راين لم يكن نبوءة… بل إنسان حاول أن يحب، ويُسامح، ويُغيّر."
